Capcom Had To Ask RE Engine Engineers To Create – Aug 13, 2026

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the latest game to grace the cover of Game Informer, and alongside my cover story, which subscribers can read right here, we’re highlighting many of the things we learned over the next couple of weeks. Already, our hub for the game is chock-full of exclusive features, interviews, and more, with videos on the way. One of my interviews while visiting Capcom’s HQ in Osaka, Japan, was with Way of the Sword animation team lead Hiroshi Yugen. We spoke about how the team crafted its own unique version of the historical Japanese samurai Miyamoto Musashi, among other topics. We also discussed Capcom’s…

The best smart home gym equipment

The average workout doesn’t begin with your first rep anymore. It begins with the data you’ve already collected. Smartwatches track your sleep and heart rate, smart rings measure recovery, and some fitness enthusiasts even use continuous glucose monitors to better understand how their bodies respond to training and nutrition. Smart home gym equipment builds on that foundation, combining connected hardware with AI-powered coaching, adaptive resistance, and long-term progress tracking to turn health insights into smarter workouts. Smart fitness has also grown well beyond streaming workout classes. The latest machines can automatically adjust resistance as you get stronger, analyze your performance…

Wild Blue Skies Review: Bland Homage

Wild Blue Skies is not shy about the video game experience it is trying to emulate. You are Bowie, an anthropomorphic dog in a spaceship making your way through a series of levels, most on rails, some taking place in small open areas, to defeat the evil Grimclaw, an anthropomorphic tiger with a giant cyborg head. Developer Chuhai Labs and Vitei Backroom Inc. are transparently presenting their take on Star Fox 64 – a noble and welcome endeavor – but many shortcomings prevent it from reaching the nostalgic heights of its inspirational arcade action game. Mechanically, controlling your ship feels okay,…

Sieving the Pixels: Detecting AI-Generated Media in 2026

The digital world is currently witnessing an influx of synthetically created media. Art, video, even music and short-form movies are being generated by AI models. And while early AI-generated images were often easy to spot due to various (and often amusing) anatomical errors, the latest models are producing results that can more easily pass muster. This next step in AI development means that relying on one’s perception is no longer enough to separate literal fact from fiction. Taking a Layered Verification Approach Forensic experts generally take a strategic, multi-layered approach to getting at the truth. Instead of looking for a…

Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Preview: A Slow Build

I went into the opening chapters of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave with close to zero expectations. I knew there was a colosseum and that fights would happen there… and that’s about it. Now, hours into the game, I never could have expected what’s played out thus far. Fortune’s Weave looks back at the series, bringing forward systems from the past like Fire Emblem Gaiden’s dungeon crawling (which Japanese players experienced in 1992 before it was remade in 2017’s Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia); but it also looks forward, literally, with a sci-fi future where magic can be shot out…

I’m a sucker for colorful phones, and Google knows exactly what it’s doing

Color has a funny way of grabbing my attention. It could be a bright bunch of flowers, a colorful bottle sitting on a shelf, a funky piece of home decor, or even something as small as a pair of earbuds. And when it comes to phones, I’m the same. Give me an interesting color, and I’m probably going to notice it before anything else. Phone makers clearly know this, too. Apple has been playing with colorful iPhones for years, with the iPhone 5c being one of the earliest and most obvious examples. Google has embraced color with its Pixel lineup…

Honor’s Robot Phone is finally up for grabs, and it may be the most ambitious camera phone yet

Honor first teased the Robot Phone in October last year with a video showing a robotic arm unfolding from the back of the phone. This January, we got an early look at a prototype at CES, although the gimbal arm wasn’t functional and had to be unfolded manually. Honor gave us a full look at the phone in March at MWC Barcelona, where it also announced a new imaging partnership with cinema camera company ARRI. The company later demonstrated the Robot Phone’s stabilized tracking shots at the Cannes Film Festival and the Shanghai International Film Festival. Now, almost a year…

The iPhone 18 may get the RAM upgrade it desperately needs

The standard iPhone 18 may get a bigger memory upgrade than previously expected, and it could solve one of the biggest limitations the phone was expected to have. According to analyst Jeff Pu in a research note seen by 9to5Mac, Apple is expected to equip the iPhone 18 with 12GB of RAM, up from 8GB on the iPhone 17. That’s also considerably more than the 9GB previously predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. 12GB could unlock more of Apple’s AI features The extra 3GB could prove particularly important for iOS 27. Apple’s AFM Core Advanced model, which powers Advanced Dictation Preview…
