At CES 2026, TCL expanded its NXTPAPER lineup with a new model — the NXTPAPER 70 Pro — that offers multiple display modes (which happen to be the handset’s USP), upgraded specifications, and a rather appealing price tag.

The main highlight of the NXTPAPER 70 Pro is its 6.9-inch screen with a 2340 x 1080-pixel resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Sounds like a regular phone screen, right?

Three display modes, one eye-friendly screen

Well, the latest NXTPAPER model, like its predecessor, features a matte-finish display that eliminates the glare we’re used to seeing on regular smartphones, or tablets, for that matter, giving it a paper-like appearance. This makes the screen distraction-free, especially if you’re using it in a room with ceiling-mounted lights.

However, that’s not all. The phone’s screen features NXTPAPER technology, which lets you switch between three display modes (and it’s far from a gimmick). First, there’s the Color Paper mode, which keeps the display at maximum vibrancy and lets you use the device as a regular smartphone.

Then there’s the Ink Paper mode, which is essentially a black-and-white, e-reader-style theme applied to the Android interface. The Max Ink mode, on the other hand, transforms the phone into an e-reader. It’s a launcher that lets you use the smartphone as a monochrome e-reader for up to seven days of reading and 26 days of standby.

The Max Ink mode also offers dedicated AI-based tools for reading, such as AI Outline, AI Q&A, AI Audiobook, and AI Podcast. To make the transition between the modes seamless, the device features an NXTPAPER Key on the right frame. When paired with the T-Pen stylus, the device provides a truly lifelike note-taking experience.

Talking about the other specifications of the NXTPAPER 70 Pro, it runs on the Dimensity 7300 chipset alongside 8GB of physical RAM, features a 50MP (f/2.0) primary camera with optical image stabilization, a 32MP front-facing camera, and a 5,200 mAh battery that supports 33W fast wired charging. Out of the box, the handset runs on Android 16.

For now, the company has announced the European pricing of the smartphone: EUR 339 (about $400) for the baseline variant with 256GB storage and EUR 389 for the 512GB storage variant (about $456). However, the NXTPAPER 70 Pro will be available in the United States, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Europe starting from February 2026.
