Crimson Desert launched in March, and since then, developer Pearl Abyss has been hard at work removing generative AI art, improving the game’s story with narrative patches, adding cross-save support, and releasing an “Enhanced Version” last month. Now, the studio is ready to release its first DLC. Titled “Charting The Unknown,” this DLC adds plenty of maritime activities to protagonist Kliff’s massive adventure, and it arrives on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on October 15.
The trailer for Charting The Unknown, which was featured in today’s PlayStation State of Play, showcased Kliff exploring the ocean alongside what appears to be a shark companion, captaining a ship in a very Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced style, creating a beachside house using the game’s base-building mechanics, and more. Plus, this DLC will continue Kliff’s story after the base game’s ending, and he will encounter new bosses and discover new weapons, armor kits, and more.

“Reclaim power and reach beyond – into the unknown,” the DLC’s description reads. “The story of Pywel continues in Crimson Desert: Charting The Unknown as Kliff, Oongka, and Damiane set out to discover their purpose and shape their futures. However, as turmoil unfolds around them, each must fight to forge a path through the trials ahead. Join them on a new adventure and discover what new possibilities await across Pywel.”
