As artificial intelligence becomes a go-to tool for everything from homework to workplace research, many people are also turning to chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Grok to verify whether news stories are true. But new research suggests that habit could actually make people worse at spotting misinformation over time. A new study from the MIT Media Lab found that relying on AI to determine whether news is accurate can weaken a person’s ability to independently identify fake or misleading content. Researchers compared the effect to GPS navigation systems, which make travel easier but can gradually reduce a person’s natural…
Report: Ubisoft Announces More Studio Closures And Layoffs Amid New Organizational Restructuring
Ubisoft has announced a new wave of organizational restructurings resulting in the closures of two studios and hundreds of layoffs. As reported by Insider Gaming, the publisher sent an internal message to staff stating how it has been evolving to “simplify how it operates, reduce its cost base and strengthen the company for the long term.” To that end, it has shuttered its studios in Winnipeg and Belgrade.Ubisoft Winnipeg opened its doors in January 2019 and served as a support studio for titles such as Rainbow Six Mobile, Far Cry 6, and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Winnipeg’s closure has reportedly impacted 65…
Budget Windows laptops have had a stale reputation for a while now. While the best part is their affordable pricing, the notebooks are often a little depressing to hold. You know exactly what I’m talking about if you haven’t been exclusive to the Apple ecosystem. Plastic bodies that flex too much, dim screens, and mushy keyboards. The spec sheet might look fine for the price, but the actual machine rarely excites. During my recent trip to Taiwan for Computex 2026, I was looking forward to the most powerful gaming rigs and all the cool new tech at the event. You…
This past weekend at Summer Game Fest 2026, I played a new movement first-person shooter from 1047 Games, the developer behind Splitgate and its polarizing sequel. Empulse, the studio’s new multiplayer title, channels Titanfall 2 in the best ways. Players fight over control of a hulking, pilotable mech by using grapple hooks, wall-running tech, and P.A.I.N.T. grenades that splatter the map with special effects.Empulse releases on Steam via Early Access on June 24 for $19.99 and is also available to play during Steam Next Fest beginning June 15, 2026. Watch the video below to learn more about why I enjoyed…
From fitness trackers to sensory technology, a growing category of devices is exploring how personalized guidance may fit into everyday wellness routines A decade ago, most wellness products asked people to follow the same routine. Download the app, follow the plan, and hope it works. That approach reflected how many health and wellness products were designed at the time. Whether someone was tracking exercise, improving sleep habits, or trying a new wellness device, the experience often looked nearly identical from one user to the next. Consumers increasingly expect something different today. Streaming services recommend what to watch. Shopping platforms suggest products based…
It’s been a long road to Bigby’s next adventure in The Wolf Among Us 2. In the 13 years since the first entry, Telltale has died and come back to life, and the specific branch of adventure games it gave rise to has seen many iterations come and go. So now, in 2026, The Wolf Among Us 2 has a somewhat-appropriate air of mystery surrounding it.In a behind-closed-doors, hands-off play session I got to direct — by choosing which verbal responses Bigby would have in certain scenarios — I saw what shape The Wolf Among Us 2 is taking. It’s…
Apple has officially announced iOS 27, and this year’s iPhone update is doing two things at once. While all eyes were on the big Siri AI release that Apple has been building towards for years, there were plenty of polishing updates, design tweaks, and changes underneath that. The company has made plenty of small quality-of-life fixes that should improve the way you interact with your iPhone. iOS updates can live or die in the boring places, and whether your old iPhone still feels usable after installing the new version. So here’s everything important coming with iOS 27. Siri AI is…
Ah, 2007. We, of course, primarily remember it as the International Heliophysical Year, but there were plenty of other things happening, too. We all walked out of our Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End screenings thinking, “Sure, that was fine,” and jammed out to the High School Musical 2 soundtrack on our drives home. And once we got home, we played some good video games.Or at least, the people in charge of greenlighting video games seem to think so, because many of the games that were announced or detailed during Summer Game Fest are follow-ups or sequels to the fourth…
Valve is pulling physical Steam gift cards from retail stores, bringing an end to a program that has been around since 2012. The company confirmed, as spotted via SteamDB, that it will no longer send new stock of Steam gift cards to retailers once current supplies run out. Digital Steam gift cards are not going away. Valve says users will still be able to buy them directly through Steam, and existing physical cards can still be redeemed whenever users choose. Retail stock, however, is expected to disappear by the end of 2026. Why Valve is cutting off retail gift cards…
Xbox’s Matt Booty Talks Bringing Back Exclusivity, Lessons Learned, And The Future Of Xbox
The Xbox brand is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, a key theme of its summer showcase. However, the brand has not exactly had a ton to celebrate lately. Following a huge splash with the original Xbox, a dominant generation with the Xbox 360, and a strong turnaround during the Xbox One era, the Xbox Series X/S have struggled to find an audience. Despite a spending spree that saw the platform acquire major publishers like Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, it has not translated into console sales. While blame could be placed on any number of questionable initiatives and decisions, including but…
