Apple has raised the price of every iPhone currently sold through its online store in Japan. The increase covers the iPhone 16, iPhone 17e, iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, with prices climbing by as much as 11.3%. The change arrives only a month after Apple raised Mac and iPad prices worldwide due to the ongoing memory crunch. This increase, however, appears to have more to do with the falling value of the Japanese yen. How much more will iPhones cost? The iPhone 17 now starts at ¥142,800, up from ¥129,800. The iPhone Air…
Apple’s next flagship camera may learn how to open and close its eye. A diagnostic log reportedly connected to the iPhone 18 Pro Max contains calibration data for a variable-aperture main camera, according to Notebookcheck. The internal document was found among files allegedly stolen from Apple supplier Tata Electronics and released by the World Leaks ransomware group. Apple has neither verified the material nor commented on the report. And of course, Apple has neither verified the material nor commented on the report. The iPhone camera could finally adjust its aperture The log identifies a Sony IMX905 as the phone’s new…
My wife doesn’t use AI very much. She isn’t philosophically opposed to it, nor is she waiting for the machines to overthrow civilization. She simply opens Google Photos because she wants to look at her photos. Lately, however, the app keeps greeting her with invitations to try its AI tools. Google would very much like her to search her library conversationally, generate something new, or ask Gemini to edit a photo. She dismisses the prompt, gets on with her life, and eventually meets it again. That small irritation made me look at the apps on my own phone. Apparently, nearly…
Google has spent the past few months making Gemini sound more natural, expressive, and conversational. Now, it appears the company is preparing to give users far more control over how the AI speaks. Code spotted by Android Authority’s APK Insights – the latest beta version of the Google app suggests Gemini may soon allow users to customise its voice across four separate parameters: Energy, Formality, Warmth, and Speed. Instead of choosing from a fixed list of personalities, users could tweak these characteristics to create a voice that better suits their preferences. The feature hasn’t been announced yet, but the discovery…
Nvidia’s new RTX Spark platform has landed one of its first major games. Sega has confirmed that Virtua Fighter Crossroads will run on RTX Spark-powered laptops and compact desktop PCs when the game arrives in 2027. More Sega titles are also heading to the platform, although neither company has named them yet. The announcement also marks more than 30 years of collaboration between Nvidia and Sega, a relationship that began when Nvidia’s NV1 graphics chip helped bring the original Virtua Fighter to PC. Sega later helped keep the young chipmaker alive by turning a $5 million payment into an investment…
Every gamer knows the pain of trying to do too much with the wrong hardware. Back-to-School is the perfect excuse to fix that. A good gaming laptop shouldn’t just hit high frame rates — it should also survive endless browser tabs, assignments, coding sessions, video edits, and everything else college throws at it. These five machines strike that balance better than most, which is exactly why they’d be my picks this semester. Alienware 16 Aurora Pros Premium Alienware design and build RTX 5050 graphics with DLSS support 16-inch 120Hz display Spacious 1TB SSD Cons 120Hz panel isn’t as fast as…
If you’ve ever purchased printer ink, you’re aware of the annoyingly expensive cost behind something that seems so basic. But HP’s latest problem goes considerably further. India’s Competition Commission has fined HP India and 21 of its resellers a combined 1.42 billion rupees, or roughly $15 million, after finding that they rigged bids for government contracts involving personal computers, toner, cartridges, and other printer supplies. The orders cover tenders placed through the Government e-Marketplace between 2017 and 2020. HP allegedly decided who got to compete The regulator found that HP dictated prices to resellers and selectively withheld authorization documents, giving…
Shopping for a mechanical keyboard is a little different from shopping for a laptop. Unlike flashy specs or benchmark numbers, the right keyboard is something that gets appreciated every single day. Whether it’s taking notes in class, writing essays, coding late into the night, or unwinding with a few games after lectures. After looking through dozens of options, I kept coming back to these five. They cover everything from budget-friendly beginner boards to enthusiast-grade keyboards and esports-focused gaming options. More importantly, they’re keyboards I’d actually recommend buying for the Back-to-School season. AULA F75 Pro Pros Fantastic value for money Excellent…
Walk into almost any small business that has figured out its operations and you will find the same thing: a laser printer running quietly in a corner, barely noticed, doing its job. The other version of this story usually involves a printer that was never designed for the demands of a busy office. As teams grow and document volumes increase, the gaps show up fast: slower output, connectivity that needs babysitting, and a queue that backs up precisely when it cannot afford to. The difference between those two offices is not dramatic. But it compounds across every workday, every shared…
ChatGPT‘s desktop app is getting a much-needed course correction. When OpenAI merged Chat, Work, and Codex into one unified desktop app roughly a week ago, the experience came with more issues than intended, burying basic features like chat history and making it awkward to switch between modes. Now OpenAI has rolled out a batch of fixes based on feedback to make the app feel consistent regardless of which device you use. Evening! We’ve gotten lots of great feedback on the new ChatGPT desktop app (which we didn’t get totally quite right on the first try), and as a result, we’ve…
