Xiaomi’s new ,500 electric SUV goes farther than a Tesla Model Y and costs less

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun had a straightforward reason for why the YU7 wasn’t outselling the Tesla Model Y in China: the base model wasn’t cheap enough.  At just 10,000 yuan ($1,450) less than Tesla’s Model Y, the price gap simply wasn’t compelling enough. On the evening of May 21, at Xiaomi’s “Human x Car x Home” launch event, Lei did something about it (via CarNewsChina). Introducing the Xiaomi YU7 Standard Edition The new True Standard Edition is priced at 233,500 yuan, about  $34,300, which makes it 30,000 yuan ($4,350) cheaper than the standard rear-wheel-drive Model Y.  While that price gap…

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Preview – A Textbook Remake, And All The Better For It

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced was perhaps one of the worst-kept secrets in the gaming industry prior to its official unveiling earlier this year. I already knew so much about the game by the time Ubisoft finally decided to make it real, and since then, the developer-publisher has continued to release gameplay videos, behind-the-scenes breakdowns, screenshots, and more. In other words, there was very little left to surprise me ahead of my hands-on preview with the team in May at Ubisoft’s event space in San Francisco. And after roughly three hours with the game, yeah, I was correct – nothing…

Samsung is prepping open-ear Galaxy Buds Able earbuds and I’m pretty excited

Open-ear earbuds have grown quite popular in recent years, and Samsung has finally decided it wants a piece of the market. The Korean outlet ETNews, citing industry sources, claims that the company is gearing up to launch the Galaxy Buds Able.  They are believed to be clip-type, open-ear earbuds that hook onto the ear without blocking the canal, and I genuinely believe they could be one of the most interesting audio launches of the year.  How are the Galaxy Buds Able different? Samsung’s existing earbuds sit in your ears, sealing the ear canal for effective sound isolation. The Buds Able…

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Will Feature 8 New Endgame Missions That Pit Edward Kenway Against A Historical Pirate Hunter

I recently previewed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced – and you can read my thoughts on it after going hands-on with it for a couple of hours here – and during the preview event, I got the chance to speak to some of the developers at Ubisoft Singapore about the game. It was in these interviews that I learned about eight new endgame missions being added to the narrative of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag as part of the Resynced remake. Specifically, these brand-new endgame missions will pit protagonist Edward Kenway against the historical pirate hunter Robert Miller. Speaking to game director…

JBL made the most stunning transparent earbuds, and they look straight out of The Matrix

JBL’s Soundgear Clips already had a fun little transparent gadget vibe. But the new color takes them to the next level. The company has introduced a new Emerald Green Special Edition of its Soundgear Clips open-ear earbuds in China, making it the sixth color option for the earbuds. It joins the existing Blue Ghost, Black Ghost, White Ghost, Purple Ghost, and Copper Ghost. The transparent look meets Matrix The Emerald Green version keeps the same see-through design as the existing Soundgear Clips colors, with a matching carrying case. While the transparent finish is part of the charm here, it isn’t…

Gothic 1 Remake Is The Elder Scrolls Competitor You Missed 25 Years Ago | New Gameplay Today

Gothic originally released in 2001 about six months before The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. The two games are distinct and have their own vibes, but are both innovative open world medieval fantasy games. Comparisons are inevitable. Motorola Raze Fold reintroduced me to the phone stylus, and I realized how badly I missed it

I had mostly made peace with the idea that phone styluses were for a very specific kind of user. There are a few who prefer taking notes the old-fashioned way (sort of), artists that can get some value out of this, or Galaxy Ultra loyalists who’d stand by this. But for the vast majority, a stylus doesn’t necessarily enhance the experience. So when I first started using the Motorola Razr Fold with the Moto Pen Ultra, I did not expect it to change my mind. A stylus on a foldable makes sense on paper because you get a larger canvas.…

Quantic Dream has announced that its fantasy multiplayer game Spellcasters Chronicles is being shut down next month. The game launched into Steam Early Access on February 26, less than four months ago.In an X post published yesterday, the team behind Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain cites that the game failed to reach a large enough audience for its development to remain sustainable “in today’s particularly challenging market environment.” Thus, the team decided to sunset the game to refocus on other projects. Quantic Dream makes a point of specifically calling out its long-in-development Star Wars Eclipse, still reportedly years from…

HMD, once the house of Nokia, debuts shameless iPhone 17 Pro copycat and calls it “futuristic”

Finnish smartphone brand HMD has launched a new budget phone in India, and it looks quite familiar. The phone is called the HMD Vibe 2 5G, and its back panel appears to take more than just inspiration from the iPhone 17 Pro. It has a wide camera bar stretching across much of the upper rear panel, just like Apple’s latest Pro iPhone, but with only two cameras instead of three. A very familiar kind of futuristic What makes the design choice more amusing is HMD’s own marketing. In its promotional images, the company describes the phone as having a “futuristic…
