The Saw franchise is ideal inspiration for a horror game – disturbing visuals made even more horrifying when you’re the one experiencing them. But while I would have expected a single player experience, Saw: Genesis, announced today at Summer Game Fest, takes the franchise in an asymmetrical multiplayer direction. Check out the reveal trailer below:
Set in the aftermath of World War 1, Saw: Genesis centers around a character called the Judge, a precursor to Jigsaw. “Customize your approach with perks and traps, then seek to control the match from the shadows,” the game’s Steam page reads. “Unlike other asymmetrical multiplayer games, the Judge is physically vulnerable and cannot overpower the Accused through sheer force alone.” They’ll be up against three Accused, who will try to “work together to escape a deadly maze of traps, pressure, and impossible choices.”
The game’s publisher, Bloober Team, recently impressed the gaming world with the Silent Hill 2 remake, so we’re interested to see its work publishing this adaptation of this ancestor of Jigsaw. As mentioned above, the game already has a page on Steam, where you can wishlist it or sign up for the Closed Alpha.
