You can now stream Disney+ on your Meta Quest headset, no workarounds needed

Disney+ is now officially available as a native app on Meta’s Quest virtual reality headsets, giving users a direct way to stream Disney’s vast catalog in VR without relying on a browser or workaround. Meta first announced plans to bring Disney+ to Quest owners during its Connect event earlier this year, and the app is now available to users in the US.

In its announcement, Meta said that Disney+ subscribers will now be able to access content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, and National Geographic. A limited selection of content from Hulu and ESPN will also be available on Meta Quest headsets through the app, though users will have to bundle these services with their Disney+ subscription to unlock full access.

Meta also highlighted the app’s support for high-quality playback, stating that since Quest is Dolby-enabled, select Disney+ titles will be available in Dolby Vision 4K HDR on the headset. Subscribers can also stream content with Dolby Atmos Sound for a more immersive experience.

According to the company, more than 100 titles in Disney’s catalog support 4K UHD and HDR, while a few Marvel and Pixar titles also support IMAX’s expanded aspect ratio on Quest headsets.

Watch Disney+ content on Quest headsets without workarounds

Disney+ subscribers can download the app on their Quest headsets running the latest version of Horizon OS. Once installed, users can browse and stream content in a virtual environment designed for large-screen viewing. While the app is currently limited to the US, Meta says it plans to expand availability to additional markets in the near future.

Meta’s move to bring Disney+ to Quest headsets reflects its push to make VR headsets more than just gaming devices. With major streaming services now reaching Quest headsets, users can now easily switch between gaming and entertainment without leaving the VR environment.
