You can now get early access to Gemini for Home faster, even on third-party speakers

Google is speeding up the Gemini for Home rollout to help more users get access to the AI-powered upgrade on their smart speakers and displays. Gemini for Home, which replaces Assistant on Google Home devices, first became available for early access in October. It has since made its way to millions of users in the US, but many Google Home users still haven’t received access. If you’re one of them, there’s some good news.

Google has announced a faster invitation process to help more users try out Gemini for Home. In a Nest community post, the company said that those who still haven’t received an invite can sign up for early access and receive an invitation within 24 hours.

On top of that, Google has confirmed that it’s expanding support to third-party devices. This means Gemini for Home will no longer be limited to Google’s own smart speakers and displays, allowing users with Assistant-powered devices from other brands to experience the upgraded voice assistant.

For users unsure if they’ve already been invited, Google recommends checking the Home settings in the Google Home app. In case there’s still no invite, users can sign up and expect to receive one within the next 24 hours. Google notes that while most users should receive their invites quickly, a small number may experience delays if their devices or accounts are incompatible with Gemini for Home.

The full Gemini for Home experience is supported on the second-gen Google Nest Hub, Nest Audio, second-gen Nest Mini, and Nest Hub Max. Older devices, like the Nest Wifi point, first-gen Nest Hub, Google Home, Google Home Max, first-gen Google Home Mini, and third-party speakers, are supported, but won’t receive access to Gemini Live.
