Recent leaks suggest Apple may finally be rethinking its long-held opposition to touchscreen displays on MacBooks. The company is reportedly planning to offer a touch-sensitive panel on the long-rumored OLED MacBook Pro, which is expected to launch later this year or early next year. If you like the idea of a touchscreen MacBook but are tired of waiting for Apple to bring it to market, Intricuit has a clever solution.

The company has unveiled an accessory called the Magic Screen at CES, which adds touchscreen functionality to existing MacBook models. The Magic Screen attaches seamlessly to the MacBook’s display using magnets and connects via USB-C to instantly enable basic touch input, no setup or third-party apps required. Advanced functions and customizations, however, are unlocked through Magic Screen’s companion app.

Magic Screen offers multitouch support and even comes with a stylus that, according to Intricuit, offers pixel-perfect accuracy and pressure sensitivity for advanced workflows. The accessory can even be used as a pen tablet when not attached to the MacBook’s screen for improved ergonomics.

The accessory will offer touch input in a wide-range of apps. Intricuit has demonstrated it in action in apps like SketchUp, Miro, and Resolume Arena, as well as in touch-friendly games like Disco Elysium.

Magic Screen works with with 2021 and newer MacBook models

Intricuit says that the Magic Screen comes with a magnetic folio case that both protects the accessory and securely attaches it to the MacBook, allowing users to easily carry it around wherever they go. The accessory is compatible with 2021 and newer MacBook Pro models, as well as 2022 and newer MacBook Air models.

The Magic Screen will soon be available via Kickstarter and is expected to ship to early backers beginning Q1 2026. While Intricuit has yet to share pricing details, interested buyers can sign up for early access, with prices starting at $139 for those who lock in early.
