Spotify has raised the limit on pinned items in Your Library from four to 20. Yes, you read that right.

For years, Spotify thought four items were sufficient, even as users asked for more, and today the company finally caved. Credit where it’s due: 20 is actually a meaningful number.

For years, we’ve heard the same question:
“Why can I only pin 4 things?”
Fair question.

So what changed, and how do you pin items?

Previously, users could pin up to four artists, albums, or playlists to the top of their Library for quick access.

Starting today, that cap jumps to 20. Spotify acknowledged the update on X with a rare flash of self-awareness: “For years, we’ve heard the same question: Why can I only pin four things? Fair question.”

To pin something, press and hold any item in Your Library, then tap Pin. It locks to the top of your library. You can rearrange or unpin whenever you want.

Worth noting: the feature rolled out quietly to some users earlier this week and was spotted in the r/truespotify subreddit before the official announcement.

This update is rolling out globally to both Free and Premium listeners starting today. Go make yourself at home. 💚

How does Spotify’s new limit stack up against its rivals?

Better than before, which is the honest answer. Spotify’s library organization has lagged behind Apple Music for years on basic features, despite Spotify holding the largest global subscriber base. Apple Music introduced pinning before Spotify and still capped it at six.

YouTube Music has its own speed dial for quick-access favorites. Spotify at 20 is now the most generous implementation of the three.

Both Free and Premium users get the upgrade today, which is the other thing worth flagging: you do not need a subscription to use it.

In my opinion, raising the limit to 20 gives Spotify a genuine organizational advantage, especially for power users with sprawling libraries, and finally addresses years of community complaints across Reddit and social media.
