After expanding Samsung Wallet’s digital car key support to two new Porsche EVs last year, Samsung is now bringing that same convenience to your home. The company today introduced a new feature that lets you unlock compatible smart door locks using your Galaxy phone.

Built on Aliro, the open smart lock standard from the Connectivity Standards Alliance, Digital Home Key is designed to improve interoperability across brands and ecosystems, giving users a seamless way to access their homes directly through Samsung Wallet. Once a compatible smart lock is set up in the SmartThings app, users can add their home key to Samsung Wallet and unlock their door with a simple tap using NFC or hands-free with UWB, depending on the supported hardware.

Samsung says the feature is protected by its Knox security platform and meets EAL6+ grade certification standards. Access requires biometric authentication or a PIN, ensuring only authorized users can access home keys. Users also get the option to remotely manage or remove home keys through Samsung Find if their phone is lost or stolen. Keys can even be shared with trusted contacts, allowing temporary access when needed.

From car keys to home access, all in one app

The addition of home keys further expands Samsung Wallet’s growing portfolio of digital credentials, which already includes payment cards, boarding passes, IDs, and car keys. With Digital Home Key, Samsung is positioning Wallet as a centralized hub for everyday access rather than just a basic wallet app for storing credentials.

Digital Home Key will begin rolling out in select markets starting this month. Samsung says support will expand as more smart lock manufacturers adopt the Aliro standard, with partners including Aqara, Nuki, Schlage, and Xthings set to offer compatible hardware.
