If you have ever been mid-conversation with Copilot, clicked a link, and then spent the next few minutes trying to find your way back, you know exactly how disruptive that experience is. Every time you open a link, your browser fires up, your workflow breaks, and suddenly you are juggling tabs across two separate apps.

It’s a small inconvenience that adds up fast, and I am happy that Microsoft is fixing this issue with a new update to the Copilot app on Windows.

No more browser hopping

Links you click inside Copilot will now open in a side pane right next to your conversation, keeping everything in one place. No extra browser window, no context switching, no losing your train of thought.

But Microsoft didn’t stop there. With your permission, Copilot can now read the context of the tabs you open within a conversation. So if you research spans across multiple tabs, you can ask Copilot to summarize them, compare information, or help you create a first draft. Your tabs are saved alongside the conversation, so you can pick up where you left off.

You can take it a step further and enable password sync, making it easier to get things done without interrupting your flow.

More than just a browser fix

The update also brings a performance boost to the Copilot app, making it faster and more reliable. Microsoft is also adding features like Podcasts and Study and Learn mode from Copilot.com.

Microsoft says it is temporarily removing some features to refine the experience, but priority features will return before the updated app is widely available.

It’s a small but meaningful change that will improve your productivity and focus. The update, version 146.0.3856.39 and higher, is rolling out now to Windows Insider channels, with a gradual expansion to Insiders worldwide.
