Lies Of P: Overture, The Prequel DLC To 2023’s Best Soulslike, Is Out Now

Neowiz’s Lies of P, the excellent soulslike that puts players in control of Pinocchio in the 19th-century France-inspired city of Krat, was one of my favorite games of 2023. Now, the team has shadow dropped its Overture DLC, meaning you can jump back into Lies of P for a brand new experience right now.

The team dropped this news during today’s Summer Game Fest stream, and you can read my review of Lies of P: Overture right here – in short, it’s great! Though it’s DLC, it’s actually a prequel that takes Pinocchio back to the final days of Krat before its destructive takeover by puppets and more. It costs $29.99 and is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

Check out the Overture story trailer below:

“On the brink of the Pupper Frenzy massacre, you follow a legendary stalker – a mysterious guide – through untold stories and chilling secrets,” a press release reads. “As Geppetto’s deadly puppet, you’ll journey through Krat and its surroundings, uncover hidden backstories, and face epic battles that shape the past and future of Lies of P.”

Having completed Overture myself, I think it’s well worth your time if you’re a fan of Lies of P. It retains the same intense action combat, the great storytelling, and a wealth of new enemies with some wild attack patterns to learn (and parry). It’s a great time and an even better reminder of just how great this soulslike is.

Plus, it features two new difficulties that tone down the game’s challenge while keeping the fun of this soulslike game in place. Those two new difficulties will be free to all Lies of P players, too, as they apply to the base game for free. Plus, all players will get a new Boss Rush mode and the ability to replay previous boss fights, thanks to an update alongside the Overture release.

While waiting for Overture to download, read Game Informer’s Lies of P review.
