MacBook Pro you can touch is genuinely exciting. We’ve been talking about it for more than a year. All the pent-up anticipation has finally ended. But now there’s a new headache: pricing.
The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display is available in two screen sizes: 14-inch and 16-inch. Pre-orders open today, October 28, 2026, and deliveries and store stock follow on Friday, November 6, 2026.
How much does each model cost?
Start with the chip (M5 Pro or M5 Max), since it moves the price far more than the screen size. In the U.S., the 14-inch with M5 Pro starts at $2,899, and the 16-inch at $3,399. Jump to the M5 Max, and those prices become $4,499 and $4,799.
In my experience, buyers obsess over size, yet the chip upgrade adds $1,400 to $1,600 while size adds $300 to $500.
Apple targets M5 Pro for developers and creative pros, and M5 Max for 3D artists and AI developers. Those are starting prices; Apple lists custom configurations on its MacBook Pro page.
| Model | Chip | Starting price (U.S.) | Education price (U.S.) |
| 14-inch | M5 Pro | $2,899 | $2,749 |
| 16-inch | M5 Pro | $3,399 | $3,199 |
| 14-inch | M5 Max | $4,499 | $4,199 |
| 16-inch | M5 Max | $4,799 | $4,499 |
Where do you order, and how can you save?
As usual, Apple offers two places to buy: apple.com/store and the Apple Store app.
Now for my favorite part: paying less. Students and educators get year-round pricing that trims $150 to $300. Trading in an old computer earns credit, and Apple’s trade-in page shows what yours is worth.
In the U.S., Apple Card Monthly Installments mean 0% APR (no interest) plus 3% Daily Cash back, while Apple Upgrade leases the laptop for 36 months from $55.99 a month, before taxes and trade-in credit. Honestly, pick your chip first, then shop.
