Every AI video I make ends the same way: just as the scene gets interesting, the clip runs out. Well, it looks like Google just bought my clips some extra time.

On Thursday, Google rolled out Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash, an AI video model that now makes clips up to 15 seconds long.

Today we are rolling out Gemini Omni Flash 1.2, with:

– longer video generation (15 seconds)
– deeper cinematic controls for camera pov
– support for multi-turn conversation editing
– less visual drift
– 30% lower price than Omni Flash 1.1

What does Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash do differently?

While Omni 1.1 stopped at 10 seconds per video, Omni 1.2 lets you pick between 3 and 15 seconds. You can basically select any value between those (in one-second steps). I wouldn’t call it enough for a Reel or Short ad, but that’s 50% more duration than before.

Editing is the bigger shift in my opinion. You can refine a clip by chatting with the AI model, and swap the background, weather or aspect ratio turn by turn. In my experience, re-rolling a whole clip to fix one detail is the most expensive mistake while generating videos from AI.

Then there’s consistency in the footage it generates. Feed it images of a particular character, product, or style, plus audio cues or motion clips up to three seconds, and the generated outfits, packaging text, and brand colors now survive camera changes with substantially less visual drift.

⚡ Fast & 30% lower cost: Draft at 360p or 720p ($0.07/s) and upscale to 1080p or 4K… pic.twitter.com/vBoyjdKHlg

Camera moves like drone flythroughs and orbits have fewer unwanted jump cuts. Dialogue gets clearer lip-sync and distinct multi-speaker voices.

What does it cost, and where can you use it?

Google cut the price 30% from Omni 1.1, to $0.07 per second of 720p video. So, if you do the math, a full 15-second clip costs about $1.05. However, Google lists only the 720p rate.

My play would be to draft at 360p or 720p, fix details with follow-up edits, and finally, upscale only the best take to 1080p or 4K.

We’ve made the model more cost-effective, bumped the video generation and editing limit up to 15 seconds, and made updates to how scenes hold together over time. We’ve also given character speech an upgrade, reduced visual glitches like jump cuts,… pic.twitter.com/jjhjFmIs5p

Developers can start in Google AI Studio and the Gemini API, and businesses in the Google Cloud console, where Provisioned Throughput (reserved capacity) is available.

Everyone else can use it in Flow and Google Ads, and in Google Vids, where 15-second clips cost nothing extra with a Google account or Workspace subscription. Google AI Ultra subscribers are getting it in the Gemini app.
