Galaxy S26 leak predicts a disappointing wireless top-up situation

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series was heavily rumored to feature native Qi2 wireless charging (with an in-built magnetic profile). However, a fresh leak from the Dutch publication Nieuwemobiel refutes the early claims.

The outlet has published several pictures of first-party accessories that Samsung might introduce alongside the Galaxy S26 series.

The leak challenges earlier Qi2 rumors

While these include the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s dual-tone S-Pen and the anti-reflective screen protectors, it also includes transparent and silicone cases with a circular magnetic ring on the back.

The images show the different models of the Galaxy S26 lineup, including the Ultra, with magnetic and non-magnetic cases. It could lead to two different conclusions.

First, Samsung could be preparing a Qi2-compatible Galaxy S26 series while still offering non-magnetic cases for buyers who don’t use wireless accessories. Further, transparent cases for Qi2-compliant cases often include a visible magnetic ring to hold the compliant accessory in place; it doesn’t necessarily mean that there are no magnets in the phone’s chassis.

Magnetic cases don’t tell the whole story

On the other hand, the magnetic cases could be the company’s workaround to unlock Qi2 wireless charging without the Magnetic Power Profile at the hardware level, something we’ve already seen with the Galaxy S25 series.

Despite multiple industry sources claiming the presence of Qi2 magnetic profile on the Galaxy S26 series, the latest leak does nothing but confuse everyone waiting for one of the most expected upgrades.

The Galaxy S26 series will launch at a time when both Apple and Google fully support wireless magnetic charging on their smartphones. Both the iPhone 17 and the Pixel 10 lineup feature integrated magnets to hold wireless chargers in place, enabling efficient wireless charging.

If Samsung decides to skip native Qi2 wireless charging support for another year, it would be highly disappointing. Anyway, the Galaxy S26 handsets could break cover at the first Galaxy Unpacked event of the year, rumored to take place on February 25, 2026.
