Dying Light: The Beast Delayed One Month

Developer Techland has delayed Dying Light: The Beast by four weeks. Instead of launching on August 22, the standalone spin-off will now release on September 19.

In a letter to fans, Techland explains that, after evaluating the generally positive preview impressions, it has decided to delay the game to address certain criticisms and add additional polish.

“We understand that this may be disappointing, but our experience has shown how important the first impression is,” Techland states in a press release. “With just four additional weeks, we can address final details that make all the difference between good and great. Areas we want to improve include finetuning the balance of gameplay elements, looking into clarity of UI, increasing the quality of physics, as well as tweaking cutscenes and player animations further as well as adding last little details.”

Techland promises to keep fans in the loop with regular updates, and Dying Light: The Beast will still be playable at Gamescom next month.

Dying Light: The Beast began as an expansion for Dying Light 2 Stay Human that was fleshed out into a standalone title. It stars the returning Kyle Crane, protagonist of the original Dying Light, who is captured and experimented on, gaining zombie-like powers as a result.

Because it was originally envisioned as DLC, those who own the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 will receive The Beast for free. Otherwise, it will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC for $59.99.
