Delta 2.0 is here, and the popular iPhone emulator is getting more than just Sega Genesis support. The major update introduces a redesigned Liquid Glass interface, RetroAchievements, animated controller skins, and a bunch of quality-of-life improvements. It also adds support for Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo, turning the device into an even more convincing retro gaming handheld. Here’s everything worth knowing about the update.
Delta 2.0 adds Sega Genesis and a fresh look
The headline addition is Sega Genesis emulation, complete with new controller skins and support for Action Replay and Game Genie cheat codes. Then there’s RetroAchievements, which lets players earn achievements in supported games, while a new Hardcore mode disables save-state loading and cheats for anyone wanting a more authentic challenge.
The interface has also received a Liquid Glass makeover, with redesigned menus, system icons, and dedicated Recently Played and Favorites sections. Controller skins can now feature animated buttons, fast-forward speeds can be customized for individual games, and new audio controls let players keep their music or podcasts playing while gaming. There’s even an option to reposition the game screen when using a connected controller.
Pokémon DLC, visual filters, and more
Pokémon fans get custom in-game content for classic Game Boy Advance titles, including event items and rare Pokémon. The first limited content is available for Pokémon Emerald, accessible directly through Delta’s pause menu. Experimental features include custom visual filters with options such as CRT effects, plus support for Epilogue’s GB/SN Operator accessories. These let users connect compatible physical cartridges to an iPhone or iPad, play them natively through Delta, and read or write save files. The update also improves iPad multitasking and lets users delete multiple save states at once.
For iPhone Duo owners, Delta adapts controller layouts to different device orientations and supports Split View. Folding the device while playing a Nintendo DS game also puts it to sleep, just like closing the lid on the original handheld. And lastly, Delta 2.0 fixes several lingering bugs, including crackling SNES audio and NES games occasionally opening to a black screen. It’s not just a new emulator skin: Delta 2.0 makes retro gaming more customizable, convenient, and rewarding.
