Back in 2023, Microsoft inked a 10-year deal with Nintendo to bring Xbox games, including Call of Duty, to Nintendo platforms. It appears the launch is drawing close, as a data miner has spotted code related to Nintendo in a recent Call of Duty update.

Although the data miner, who goes by Reality on X, does not reveal exactly which Call of Duty game includes the code pointing to a Nintendo launch, they note that the references appear in the PlatformFamily, ClientPlatformToPlatformFamily, and ClientPlatformFamilyToAccountType sections. Reality adds that the inclusion could point to an imminent launch, with Nintendo potentially making it official during its next round of announcements.

According to Video Games Chronicle, the Call of Duty game will likely arrive on the Nintendo Switch 2, but it’s not immediately clear if it will also be available on the original Switch. The publication also speculates that Microsoft could announce the launch during its Xbox Developer Direct event later this month, where it plans to showcase Forza Horizon 6, Fable, and Beast of Reincarnation, alongside a rumored fourth game.

More signs point to an imminent release

This new leak closely follows a claim made by Windows Central’s Jez Corden last month, who said that the first Call of Duty title for Nintendo Switch “is nearly done and launching in a few months.” So far, neither Microsoft nor Nintendo have commented on these claims.

A Call of Duty release would mark one of the most significant third-party launches on Nintendo hardware in years and significantly strengthen the Switch 2’s portfolio of games beyond first-party titles. The franchise has not appeared on a Nintendo platform since Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U, making it a notable return for FPS fans.
