Boox has launched the Go 6 (Gen II), its new 6-inch E Ink reader and the successor to the 2024 Boox Go 6. The new model keeps the small, lightweight format that made the original popular, but adds one major upgrade in the form of note-taking support.

The Go 6 (Gen II) is now available for pre-order through the official Boox shop for $199.99, with shipping expected to begin around June 17. It is still very much a compact travel e-reader, but the stylus support gives it a bit more flexibility than the 2024 model.

A pocket-friendly reader with a refreshed design

The biggest visual change is the refreshed suitcase-inspired design. The back has tactile grooves and softer curves, and the device now comes in four colors including Plum, Stone, Shell, and Custard. At around 160 grams and 6.8 mm thick, it remains easy to slip into a bag or pocket, though it is slightly heavier than the 2024 Go 6, which weighed 146 grams.

The screen specifications remain unchanged. The Go 6 (Gen II) features a 6-inch monochrome E Ink display with a resolution of 1448 x 1072 and a pixel density of 300 dpi. It also has an anti-glare glass cover and adjustable warm and cold front lights for reading in different environments.

What has changed from the 2024 Boox Go 6

The most important upgrade is note-taking. The Go 6 (Gen II) works with the InkSense Plus stylus, which is sold separately, and includes a native notes app. Users can mark up books, underline passages, write quick reminders, and create handwritten to-do lists.

Performance has also improved slightly, with 3GB of RAM instead of the 2GB RAM on the 2024 model. Storage remains 32GB, with a microSD card slot for expansion. The battery is still 1,500mAh, and connectivity includes Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and USB‑C. Since it runs Android 11, users can install compatible apps through the Google Play Store.

While the stylus support is a nifty feature to have for marking passages and taking notes, if you want to go for something simpler and save some money, the first-gen Go 6 is still available on the Boox website for around $160.
