It was an astonishing spectacle. A 70-meter-tall SpaceX rocket performing a controlled descent toward a tiny target where two giant mechanical arms were waiting to clasp it just meters above the ground. Sunday’s bold effort was SpaceX’s first try at “catching” the Super Heavy booster, and to many people’s surprise, it nailed it. Thousands of distinct vehicle and pad criteria had to be met prior to catching the Super Heavy booster. Thanks to the tireless work of SpaceX engineers, we succeeded with catch on our first attempt. pic.twitter.com/6wa5v6xHI0 — SpaceX (@SpaceX) October 13, 2024 So, now what? Well, the immediate…

Sean Baker is one of the most acclaimed directors of indie films in his generation, and his latest, Anora, is getting plenty of Oscar buzz. While speaking to the Associated Press, though, Baker, discussed the kinds of movies he wishes there were more of in today’s Hollywood. “What I miss,” the director said, “where are the mature films for adults that had human stories, that didn’t have to have explosions or didn’t have to have superheroes or a horror-based [concept]? Where are those?” He then cited several specific examples, including the films of Jonathan Demme (Something Wild, Silence of the Lambs,…
While some streamers rely on low-budget action movies, Hulu bucks that trend with its impressive lineup of films. Hulu isn’t even limited to the 20th Century Studios film library, as other studios lend out their movies to the streamer for a limited time. That means Hulu can often get some of the best action movies in Hollywood, if only briefly. This month’s picks for the three action movies on Hulu that you need to watch include a star-studded pairing of action stars, an intense sci-fi legacy sequel, and the low-budget action/horror film that is a lot more entertaining than the…
SpaceX has scripted history with the fifth test of its massive Starship rocket system. The giant rocket launched from the Starbase site in South Texas earlier today, and following a brief trip to space, the reusable spacecraft made a splashdown in the Indian Ocean. But the more remarkable feat was the successful capture of the Super Heavy booster, a fully reusable first stage that stands at a towering 71 meters and draws power from 33 Raptor engines. Up till now, the boosters have splashed into the water (or got damaged), but this time, SpaceX managed to capture it using giant…
SpaceX has shared some dramatic close-up pictures of the 70-meter-tall Super Heavy booster at the start and finish of its historic test flight on Sunday in which the rocket was brought safely back to Earth for the first time. The photos show the Super Heavy’s Raptor engines lit up during the launch at SpaceX’s Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, as the vehicle launched on its fifth test flight, and also as it came in to land — secured by giant mechanical arms on the launchpad — about seven minutes after launch. Launching and returning the world's most powerful rocket…
Whether you turned on subtitles on Disney Plus to help your kids remember the words to their favorite songs, or you turned down the volume while watching the new Marvel movie so you didn’t wake anyone up during naptime, you may not be sure how to turn them back off. While this can be frustrating, don’t panic (and don’t cancel your subscription!). Turning subtitles on and off is fairly simple once you know where the option is hiding. Disney+ is the home of streaming for all things Disney, and includes both new original programming and their classic catalog. Thanks to their acquisitions…
OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) monitors offer a superior visual experience due to their self-emissive pixels, which produce light individually. This technology allows for incredibly deep blacks and a high contrast ratio, as each pixel can be turned off completely when displaying black, unlike traditional LCDs that rely on a backlight. Additionally, OLED monitors provide vibrant and accurate colors, wider viewing angles, and faster response times, making them ideal for gaming, graphic design, and high-definition media consumption. Despite being more expensive than their LCD counterparts, the enhanced image quality and immersive viewing experience make OLED monitors a compelling choice for users…
Don Cheadle hints that one troubled Marvel movie could redeem Secret Invasion’s biggest twist
It’s been a long time since Marvel Cinematic Universe fans have seen the real James “Rhodey” Rhodes (Don Cheadle). Last year, Marvel Studios revealed in its poorly received miniseries, Secret Invasion, that a shapeshifting Skrull named Raava had been secretly posing as Rhodey for an indefinite amount of time. It was later confirmed by Secret Invasion director Ali Selim that Rhodey was originally kidnapped by Raava and her fellow Skrulls shortly after he experienced his spinal injury in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. This twist proved to be extremely divisive among MCU fans. Many found it disconcerting to discover that…
