Onimusha is finally returning to the action space next month after a 20-year hiatus at developer-publisher Capcom. Though a lot of the series’ trademarks are returning, like an intense focus on swordplay action, hordes of demons, a samurai protagonist, and the Oni Gauntlet, there’s plenty of new, too. There’s an “open-town” section of Kyoto, which is where this early Edo-period adventure takes place; there’s historical Japanese samurai Miyamoto Musashi as the protagonist this time, using the likeness of the late Toshirō Mifune; and there is also a mysterious woman living inside Musashi’s Oni Gauntlet. That mysterious woman is named Shizuka, and despite her ethereal appearance,…
Bumble is changing one of the rules that has defined the dating app since its launch: either person in a match can now send the first message. The change is rolling out globally from today, giving men and women more flexibility over how a conversation begins. Bumble is also extending the time available to respond from 24 hours to 72 hours, which should make it less likely that a promising match disappears simply because someone was busy for a day. It is a notable shift for an app built around the idea that women should make the first move. Bumble…
Microsoft’s smartphone history could have looked very different. Years before the Surface Duo arrived, and before Microsoft’s Nokia acquisition reshaped its mobile ambitions — the company was rumored to be developing a Windows Phone entirely of its own. That phone never made it into stores, but we may finally know what it looked like. Newly published images, shared by a user on Discord and Telegram and first spotted by Windows Central, may have finally given us a look at that mysterious phone. The prototype reportedly dates back to 2013 or 2014 and may have been developed under the codename “Raven.”…
Marvel’s Wolverine, one of the biggest games of the year, comes out it a little over a month. Today we learned it’ll get the same treatment as PlayStation’s other beloved first-party IP and launch alongside a limited edition PS5 console and controller. Check it out for yourself below. The console and controller feature a slashing design caused by Wolverine’s iconic claws, and the…
I’ve caught myself scrolling past an artist photo on Spotify assuming there was an actual human behind it, only to later find out I was wrong. That has been happening a lot lately. That guessing game is about to end. Spotify is rolling out a new “AI Persona” badge, which is designed to flag artist profiles built around AI-generated identities (anything from the name, face, bio, and visual image) rather than real people. The label will go live across the app starting in mid-September. So how exactly will this badge work? Starting today, artists can voluntarily flag their profile with…
I still remember where I was when I heard that Firaxis was making a Marvel game. While the game I dreamt of – XCOM with the Marvel license – ended up differing pretty substantially from what we ultimately got with Marvel’s Midnight Suns, I still thoroughly enjoyed the unique deckbuilding and social mechanics layered on top of the turn-based tactics I had come to love about Firaxis. However, with many of the developers who created XCOM: Enemy Unknown, XCOM 2, and Marvel’s Midnight Suns departing Firaxis to form Bit Reactor, and that studio announcing its debut game to be a Star…
Samsung is turning its Galaxy Buds into something more useful than another pair of wireless earbuds. The company says its Galaxy Buds Hearing Aid feature has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration, allowing compatible Galaxy Buds to function as over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids for adults with perceived mild to moderate hearing loss. The feature is designed for users aged 18 and above and does not require a prescription or clinic visit. Samsung says it can help people who struggle to follow conversations in noisy environments, bringing basic hearing support directly to a device they may already own.…
Supermassive Games, developers of games like Until Dawn, The Quarry, and The Dark Pictures Anthology, has announced it’s likely letting go of several of its employees. You can read the full message below. “We have made the difficult decision to begin a redundancy consultation process, which we anticipate will result in the loss of up to 75 of our colleagues,” the statement reads. “This is a…
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 review: I spent weeks testing it, and I don’t want to put this beauty down
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 MSRP $1,899.00 “A total charmer.” Pros Fantastic form factor Bright 120Hz screens Feature-rich software Reliably performant Long software support Cons A pricey investment Zoom lens is a sore miss Thermal throttling Needs better dust/water proofing Flex mode is missing I’ve never used a foldable phone with as much fervor and daily joy as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8. The first time I closed it and slipped it into my jeans, I did a small double-take, because it went in like a normal phone. That sounds trivial until you remember every Samsung foldable phone before…
Meta has a new AI model out, and for once, the biggest headline isn’t about capability; it’s about freedom. Muse Glimmer, sitting around 30 billion parameters, ships with an Apache 2.0 license, meaning the weights on Hugging Face are yours to download, modify, and build on top of, no permission needed. You can simply run it on a graphics card on your local machine, no server farm or online connectivity required. Meta’s Superintelligence Lab took its larger Muse Spark and essentially had it teach a smaller, leaner version to think as it does. Muse Glimmer accepts both text and image…
