Ever since its rocky launch, Cyberpunk 2077 has been a game defined by its post-release support. First, developer CD Project Red fixed bugs, then its graphics were cleaned up, and then Phantom Liberty and a massive update redefined the experience, reworking major mechanics and progression systems. Over five years later, it’s still getting better, as today’s free update upgrades the game’s visuals on PS5 Pro systems. Check out the overview trailer below.

In addition to advanced ray tracing features and a new cap of 90 frames per second (on VRR-enabled displays), Cyberpunk 2077 is getting PSSR support, allowing the PS5 Pro to upscale the game’s visuals to show even more depth. The update also includes three graphics modes. Ray Tracing Mode is the default, including ray tracing (for shadows, vehicle paint, and transparent objects) and gameplay at 60 fps. Performance Mode prioritizes frame rate and enables a 90 fps target for VRR displays. Finally, Ray Tracing Pro Mode adds ray traced skylight, emissive lighting, and ambient occlusion, but lowers the frame rate to 30 fps. If you’re using a display with a high refresh rate, however, the mode can reach 40 fps.

You can read the full patch notes on the Cyberpunk website here. If you’ve already got a PS5 Pro, this is nothing but good news, but if the flashy trailer is making you think about upgrading, be warned: the console just got a significant price increase.
