Samsung recently kicked off the One UI 8.5 beta program for the Galaxy S25 series and highlighted some of the new features coming with the update. While other Galaxy devices haven’t received beta builds yet, a leaked One UI 8.5 build for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 has revealed a new Galaxy AI feature that could seriously level up the image editing experience on Galaxy phones.

According to SamMobile, the new feature brings prompt-based image editing to the stock Gallery app. Users can access this feature by tapping a Galaxy AI button in the app and using the text field in the Photo Assist section to describe changes. The feature will reportedly allow users to add, change, or remove elements in an image, but more importantly, it will also let them bring elements from one image into another.

Galaxy AI in One UI 8.5 will let users bring things from one photo into another

A tutorial from Samsung’s Tips app shows that the new editing feature will let users pick a picture from the Gallery app and tell Galaxy AI to grab a detail from that image and add it to the photo they are currently editing. Users will also be able to describe exactly how the element is added to achieve desired results.

SamMobile notes that the feature isn’t functional in the leaked One UI 8.5 release, and it’s not available in the beta build that recently rolled out for the Galaxy S25 series. As such, there’s currently no way to tell how effective Samsung’s new generative editing capabilities actually are. We expect to learn more and try the feature in a subsequent One UI 8.5 beta release or when the stable version goes live with the Galaxy S26 series early next year.
