Have you ever missed the chance to watch your favorite streamer going live? This is why Twitch has launched Stream Recaps, a new feature that bundles the best clips from a livestream into one highlight reel.

You can now catch key moments in minutes instead of replaying hours of video. If you follow a streamer, you’ll find these recaps at the top of your mobile feed and on the streamer’s channel page.

How do Stream Recaps work?

Right after a stream ends, creators can open Stream Summary or tap the plus button in the mobile app to build a recap. Clips made by the streamer and their editors are included by default, but creators can add, remove, or edit clips whenever they like.

Creators can also say “Twitch Clip That” during a livestream to create a clip that automatically joins the recap. Later on, they can crop clips, edit captions, and rearrange the whole layout to get the recap looking right.

How Stream Recaps can help creators find new viewers

Unlike a random standalone clip, a recap gives viewers more context around a stream’s big moments without scrubbing through hours of footage. Comments and reactions on recap clips will also help Twitch identify which moments resonated the most with viewers. This feedback could influence what appears in your Clips and Live feeds down the line.

Twitch also plans to surface recap clips in more places soon, including Category Pages and Search. Later this month, it will promote recap clips across social media to help creators reach audiences beyond the platform. If you are a creator on Twitch, these highlight reels could become one of the easiest ways to grow your audience without putting in extra effort.
