Gemini Nano Banana now turns your selfie into a full-body avatar for online try-ons

Google is updating its AI-powered visual try-on tool, and the best part is that you no longer need a full-body photo to use it. Thanks to the company’s Nano Banana model (part of the Gemini 2.5 Flash Image suite), the tool can now turn a single selfie into a full-body digital avatar for trying on clothes, and it works across Google Search and Shopping.

All you need to do is upload a selfie and pick your usual size; Nano Banana will generate a handful of avatars. Using your face, the AI model generates the rest of your body while maintaining consistent proportions. Choose the one you think suits you best, and use the avatar to try on shirts, jackets, dresses, and more.

Faster, more personal AI try-ons

Previously, you had to upload a full-sized head-to-toe picture, but the new feature saves time that would otherwise go into searching for a photograph or capturing one. The new AI-generated avatar doesn’t rely on a preset body type or generic shapes. Instead, it builds a personalized digital avatar for a more realistic preview of fit and style.

The Nano Banana update should lead to richer, more immersive shopping experiences in which buyers are more confident about what they are buying before they make payments. If you buy clothes online, the update can help you save time, frustration, and the hassle of returning a product for getting a smaller or larger size.

For now, the new Google shopping feature is rolling out in the United States, giving American shoppers a chance to try it before anyone else in the world. Since the feature is built right into Google Search and Shopping, you don’t need to download or sign up for anything extra.

I am a bit skeptical of the feature that estimates a person’s body type from their face, but it should still help find a virtual fit and speed up the checkout process.
